Advancing Offshore Desalination

Azura is excited to share important news! Our project, “Advancing Offshore Wave-Powered Desalination for Aotearoa’s Blue Economy”, has been accepted by NZ’s Applied Doctorates Scheme (ADS).

The ADS is a $20 million, five-year national program launched in 2025 to bridge the gap between academic research and industry. The scheme aims to boost commercialization, strengthen industry-academic partnerships, and improve career opportunities for PhD graduates.  24 scholarships are available, each associated to a project on the theme of “Aotearoa’s Path to Energy Innovation”, including Azura’s wave energy project.

Prospective students select their project of interest from the list of approved projects and choose the one that aligns best with their interests. Azura looks forward to a meaningful collaboration with the University of Canterbury, the ADS program, and an enthusiastic doctoral candidate to help unlock New Zealand’s wave-energy potential.
